Sometimes considered “a nation within a nation” because of its strong linguistic and cultural identity, Tuscany is a perfect place to be explored by bicycle.

Located in central Italy and stretching from the Apennine Mountains to the Tyrrhenian Sea, with its rolling hills and bucolic landscape, good weather, “strade bianche”, birthplace of the Renaissance and l’Eroica, cities of art, food and wine; Tuscany is a unique cycling destination

Tuscany is considered a paradise for cyclists, from professional to amateurs who just want to slow down and enjoy the famous landscapes. Cycling legends like Bartali, Cipollini and Bettini trained right here in this territory and now, l´Eroica has become a must-ride for cyclists.

On this trip, you will ride some of the l´Eroica and Strade Bianche paths as well. You’ll ride along breathtaking landscapes, medieval villages and large vineyards. You’ll recover strength with the delicious local cuisine and the famous wines produced in this region. And after all that effort, you’re guaranteed to sleep well in the friendly, small-scale accommodations selected for you.

Travel Stages

STAGE 1 –SOVICELLE, RADICONDOLI, MONTALCINELLO, PIEVESCOLA, SOVICIELLE

The first stage of our journey starts in Sovicelle. We´ll ride 72 kilometres and climb 1,400 meters visiting the Riserva naturale Cornocchia, our first and beloved “strade bianche” gravel road. The rolling hills will ensure a good workout and fantastic views.

During this stage, the variation of the terrain is unbelievable: muddy singletracks, white gravel, cobblestones and short distances on asphalt.

STAGE 2 – CHIANTI, AROUND CASTELNUOVO BERARDENGA

On this stage, we are going to pedal along some of the l’Eroica trails.

Gravel roads will be the main course, taking us on long, gentle climbs (some 12km long). You’ll see endless stretches of beautiful vineyards but virtually no cars, allowing you to really enjoy the effort and the scenery.

We will visit several beautiful villages, but the unique Castelnuovo Berardenga takes the prize.

It is a long journey at 70 kilometres and 1,128 meters to climb, but we’ll live the best “Esperienza Toscana”.

STAGE 3 – COLLE MALAMERENDA – BAGNO VIGNONI

This last day we’ll continue our exploration and enjoyment of the l’Eroica paths.

Despite the short distance, this last day is the most challenging. But with a nice surprise at the end: the hot springs of Bagno Vignoni.

On this unforgettable day, we will ride 55 kilometres and climb 1,185 meters
